Focusing on Pregnant Women Health Care Facilities
In association with Leo & Mia Foundation, Early Interventions, United Kingdom, Sanjeevani Vikas Evam Jan Kalyan Samiti has initiated a project on preterm/ maternal and child health interventions. Aiming to improve the health care facilities of Preterm /Maternal and child and for their well-being. Currently, the project is operational in rural areas of two different Indian states , in Bhikyasen block of Almora District, Uttarakhand and Seraj block of Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh with 900 women in each district from reproductive age 18-45 years old including adolescents, lactating and pregnant women out of which 200 are pregnant only. The Preterm/Maternal and Child Interventions is in primary phase only, where the prime target group is pregnant women. The notion of the programme is to ensure antenatal care for healthier delivery and outcome. The project is based on the assumption that health works in a vicious cycle which starts in thewomb. By providing good care to pregnant woman, we can also make sure the health of the infant and prepare a strong future generation.
The major primary outcomes of Preterm/ Maternal and Child Health Interventions programme are:
- Increase the facilities related preterm births and save both mother and child.
- Reduction in maternal deaths.
- Reduction in neo-natal deaths.
- Increase in accessibility of strengthening referral systems and also government schemes and services.
- Awareness about causes of pre-term babies, malnutrition, mother and child care
Programme outputs include:
- Increased awareness on reproductive, maternal, new-born, and child health.
- Timely, adequate, and appropriate ante-natal care delivered to all pregnant beneficiaries.
- Nutrition supplement delivered routinely to all compliant beneficiaries.
- Mechanisms for accurate identification of vulnerable neonates established.
- Evidence and resource produced for replication in similar settings.
- Improved quality health service systems at least two centers in the block level.
