Disability Survey in Almora, Uttarakhand

March 10, 2017 by Admin

Nowadays our organization one team has been conducting House Hold Survey for disabilities in Salt development block of Uttarakhand state. Team members are facing some confusion during this survey work. In the one hand we are talking about United Nation Convention on the Rights of Disabilities and new law on disability “The Rights of persons with disabilities Act 2016” has passed by our parliament recently on the other hand people are not aware of the facts.
Disability Survey Almora District

Types of disabilities has increased from seven to twenty three. But the people with special needs is still unnoticed, Unsung hero and unaware. During the house hold survey our team visits every household of some targeted villages. During their recent survey they observed that if we want to make an inclusive development of such people, we have to do much and more towards this group. This section must be addressed with some unique techniques. During their survey they met one person from Kunheel Syontari village of Salt development block of Uttarakhand state. The man has low vision and he is financially very weak and never went for any sort of check up. Even he does not know why he has lost his vision. He has just compromised with new borne circumstances. Govt. gives some pension amount, if disability or impairment is over 40% and more. But what will be the procedure for getting pension, they are not aware.

Another women from same village has also low vision. She wears spectacles but still the world is not clear for her. One another case we found that a young lad, who is not able to move his body in smooth manner. Parent have lost their hope for his upcoming future.

Disability Survey Almora District

After compilation of survey such cases will be linked with concerned departments. Needy people will get their monthly pension. And we linked them with govt. schemes, which will bring them in inclusive livelihood. If such people will linked with livelihood schemes, certainly they will come in main stream of social lives.
